Hyperliquid Whale Positioning: XRP SHORT 78% — Smart Money Consensus for August 20, 2026

Where the whales agree, and where those positions break. Live crowding across 193 proven Hyperliquid wallets holding 931 open positions in 187 markets — crypto and tokenized stocks alike.

TL;DR

  • 29 markets cleared the consensus gate (65%+ agreement, 4+ wallets) — 20 of them strong at 75%+
  • Direction split: 12 long / 17 short, $94.8M of crowded notional
  • Majors in consensus: XRP SHORT 78%
  • 16 tokenized stock markets crowded — an angle no crypto-only tracker covers
  • 5 liquidation walls sit within 15% of spot, the largest $6.2M on XYZ100
  • 16 of 29 crowded clusters are currently in profit

Where smart money is positioned right now

Consensus here means one thing only: of the tracked wallets that hold a market, how many sit on the same side. A cluster counts when at least 65% agree and at least four wallets are involved, so three-of-three can't outrank thirteen-of-sixteen.

Concentration is the largest single wallet's share of the cluster. Above 60% it is one bet, not a crowd.

Bitcoin and the majors

Bitcoin is held by 53 tracked wallets right now: 31 long, 22 short, $116.6M on the heavier side. At 58% that falls short of the gate, so there is no BTC consensus to speak of today.

Tokenized stocks: the part nobody else tracks

Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets put equities, indices and commodities on the same order book as crypto perpetuals. 16 of them are crowded today, 6 leaning short, with Semiconductors the busiest at 4 markets.

Liquidation walls within reach

Crowding only becomes actionable once you know where those positions get force-liquidated. These clusters have hard liquidation prices — isolated-margin positions, fixed at entry — sitting within 15% of spot:

MarketCrowded sideWall within 15%Cluster size
XYZ100SHORT$6.2M$8.9M
XRPSHORT$5.0M$17.1M
NBISLONG$4.0M$7.8M
JPYSHORT$862K$4.5M
CXMTLONG$8K$1.0M

Cross-margin liquidation prices move with account collateral, so they are counted separately and never merged into these totals.

What this means if you follow wallets

Copy trading follows one wallet. Consensus asks a different question: how many independently profitable wallets landed on the same side. The two disagree more often than people expect, which is why we publish the spread rather than a single call.

Worth noting today — 10 crowded clusters have already run past the cohort's own average entry: SPCX 9.3%, SKHY 6.7%, BNB 19.1%, UNITREE 14.1%. The crowd is in profit there; a fresh entry is buying a move that already happened.

And 16 clusters are dominated by a single wallet — XYZ100 at 63%, XMR at 81%, JPY at 81%, UNITREE at 81%. The percentage looks like agreement; the size says otherwise.

Methodology

  • Consensus = same-direction wallets ÷ wallets holding that market. Gate: 65% and 4+ wallets.
  • Grades are percentile ranks recomputed daily, not fixed thresholds. S = top-quartile 90-day return (currently ≥266%) and at or above the median win rate (≥60%).
  • Hard vs soft walls — isolated positions have a liquidation price fixed at entry and are exact; cross positions move with collateral and are indicative only.
  • Liquidation and leverage figures are as of 2026-08-20, refreshed daily at 09:05 UTC. Positions are live.
  • We publish no backtest, because we don't have one. This is a snapshot of positioning, not a forecast.
